Russia commissions 6th nuclear power unit of Novovoronezh plant

MOSCOW, Feb 28 (PRIME) -- Russia has commissioned the sixth power unit of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant, the world’s first nuclear power unit constructed under post-Fukushima safety technologies, nuclear power producer Rosenergoatom said in a statement on Tuesday.

The power unit is equipped with VVER-1,200 water-water energetic reactor with installed capacity of 1,200 megawatts, which makes it the most powerful nuclear power unit in Russia, the company said.
